Phu Quoc Island offers several beautiful beaches. As the weather is always hot in the south of Vietnam in general and on the island of Phu Quoc in particular, it is a good condition for a holiday. Moreover, it is one of the few places that face to the west, from the island, one can contemplate beautiful sunsets.

Most of Phu Quoc’s beautiful beaches are on its west and southeast coasts. You will find below the most beautiful beaches of Phu Quoc.

1. Sao Beach: 4.5 / 5 – the most beautiful beach of Phu Quoc

The beaches Sao and Khem (or Kem) are the most beautiful beaches of Phu Quoc Island.

The Sao Beach in Phu Quoc is one of the most beautiful and appealing beaches for tourists visiting Phu Quoc Island. Its smooth white sand stretches along the clear blue sea, intertwined with tall coconut trees, making it an ideal stop that you cannot miss when visiting the Pearl Island.

The ideal time to visit Sao Beach is from around June to October, where you will have the chance to enjoy the gentle coolness of the climate and the stunning sea views with crystal-clear blue water.

A real gem located in the southeast corner of the island, Sao is the most beautiful beach in Phu Quoc, probably one of the most beautiful beaches in Vietnam.

The sand is white, the waters are turquoise and transparent.

Sao Beach is centered and a bit isolated from the other attractions of the island. It is located south, 25km from the town of Dong Phu, the main city of Phu Quoc Island. You can get there by taxi or motorbike. The road is muddy when it rains.

There are no hotels on Sao Beach, just a few restaurants and bars. It could be invaded by Vietnamese tourists during the months of June to September.

Renting a sunbed costs 30,000vnd and the fresh water shower costs 15,000vnd.

2. Khem Beach: 4.5 / 5

Khem Beach is close to Sao Beach and it is also a very beautiful beach.

Access to the beach is not easy but it is worth it. Its most beautiful part belongs to the JW Marriott Phu Quoc resort, and only guests of the hotel can use it.

Khem Beach

Khem Beach in Phu Quoc was once ranked among the top 50 most beautiful beaches in the world by the Canadian travel company Flight Network. It is renowned for its stunning sunsets, luxurious resorts, and exciting kayaking activities.

This pristine beach is located in the southern part of Phu Quoc Island. With a length of approximately 3.5km, the main beach stretches for about 1.8-2km. It forms a magnificent crescent shape with smooth white sand and clear blue water. The water here is so clear that you can easily see down to the bottom. The sand is soft and fine, adorned with large rocks scattered around.

3. Truong Beach (Long Beach): 4/5

As the name suggests, Long Beach is the longest beach in Phu Quoc, where most hotels and resorts are concentrated. It is located on the west coast of the island.

As the beach is very long, some of its parts are totally deserted while in the main areas it would be busy with several options to eat and drink, with evening entertainment.

Travelers who want to stay near Duong Dong Town (the main town in Phu Quoc) often choose a hotel located on Long Beach. Those who prefer a beach of a bit isolated, choose a hotel on the Ông Lang beach or Gành Dầu beach. (See the best reasonably priced hotels on Phu Quoc Island here).

Suggested accommodation on Long Beach:

Daisy Resort: The air-conditioned bungalows are located a 6-minute walk from the beach and close to the city center:
Cassia Cottage: One of the best accommodation options in Phu Quoc, it’s located right on the water and close to the city center.
Salinda Resort: A luxury resort with the best value in its category.

4. Ông Lang Beach: 4.5 / 5

Ong Lang is also a beautiful beach in the north of Phu Quoc Island. It is located 6km from the town of Duong Dong, protected from currents and waves. It is often deserted especially during the week.

Mango Bay resort is perhaps the best choice on Ông Lang beach. It is in a quiet corner, with its private beach and restaurant and bar on the beach. It is the preferred choice of tourists who love the calm and the bungalows “feet in the water”. A candlelight dinner on the beach at Mango Bay Resort while watching the sunset is a great experience.

5. Vũng Bầu Beach: 4.5 / 5

Located on the north-west coast and 20km away from Duong Dong Town, just behind the village of Cửa Cạn is a beautiful half-moon shaped bay and its Vũng Bầu beach.

Vung Bau Beach, also known as Half-moon Beach, is one of the most pristine beaches in the northwest of Phu Quoc Island. Its unique crescent shape is why it’s also called Half-moon Beach. This place attracts tourists with its vast natural scenery blending seamlessly with the sea, creating a picturesque landscape hidden amidst Phu Quoc’s mountains and forests.

Vung Bau Beach is quite secluded and untouched, with its crescent-shaped stretch spanning nearly 6km, nestled between Long Beach and Cua Can Beach. When viewed from above, Vung Bau resembles a soft silk fabric, gracefully embracing the land.

It is an excellent choice for picnics, swimming or snorkeling.

6. Rạch Vẹm Beach: 4/5

It is a secluded beach in the north of the island with somewhat difficult access. The fishing village on Rach Vem beach is authentic, a nice place to experience traditional village life.

Rạch Vẹm Beach on Phu Quoc Island

Rach Vem is a tranquil fishing village nestled by the sea in the northern part of Phu Quoc Island. It is renowned for its picturesque garden bridges extending out to the vast sea and floating fish rafts on the water.

The area is also famous for its namesake beach, Rach Vem Beach, located not far from the village. However, not everyone can easily access it, which is why Rach Vem Beach remains the only beach in Phu Quoc that retains its pristine beauty, unmatched by many.

From November to April, during the dry season, is the ideal time to explore Rach Vem. The weather is cool, the waves are calm, and there is plenty of sunshine, providing the best conditions to admire the beautiful sea views. It is also the season when bioluminescent plankton make their way to Rach Vem, creating a magical spectacle.

From May to October, during the rainy season, the waves are rough, and the water is murky, making it less suitable for a visit to Rach Vem. During this time, you may not be able to see the bioluminescent plankton, and getting to the fishing village can be challenging. If you still choose to travel during this period, make sure to check the weather forecast beforehand to better prepare for your trip.

Tip: leave your valuables safely at your hotel while visiting secluded beaches.

7. The beaches on the islands south of Phu Quoc: 4/5

In the south of Phu Quoc Island, there are 15 islands and islets whose beaches are picturesque and deserted. Their coral reefs are colorful and fish species are diverse.

8. Gành Dầu Beach : 3,5 / 5

Gành Dầu Beach is located to the northwest of Phu Quoc Island, in a sleepy area with its fishing villages. It is small and quite calm with crystal clear waters. From the beach, you can see the coastline of southern Cambodia.
