With so many cool things to see and do in Ho Chi Minh City, it can be hard to do any work. To get away from some of the distractions of the city center, head out to District 2, one of Saigon’s trendiest suburbs. Its large expat community has turned D2 into an area with countless cute boutiques, international food stores, and delicious restaurants. Another great thing about this area? There are many cool cafés you can use as your office for a few hours. If co-working spaces feel too formal or you really just want some good internet for a morning or an afternoon, D2’s café scene has got you covered.

Dolphy Coffee
One of the coffee shops which has been around the longest in D2 is Dolphy Coffee. Set on a busy street corner in the heart of D2 (31 Thao Dien Street), it might not seem like the best place to concentrate but once you step inside their small indoor seating area, you are well-shielded from the traffic’s ruckus.
Dolphy’s internet is reliable, and their coffee is super strong, so especially if you’ve had a short night or need a pick-me-up after a heavy lunch, this is the place for you. While you wait for your drink, check out the notice board. Local businesses announce events, sales and all kinds of workshops and get-togethers there. It’s worth checking out!
Its great coffee and friendly staff have made Dolphy so popular that they opened another branch just across the street. While there is no indoor seating in this one, their comfy lounge chairs are great for an afternoon of work if you don’t mind the noise and warm weather.
Dolphy’s third and most quiet location is tucked away at the back of Thao Dien in D2. Here you can get into the zone while sipping some amazing coffee without having to worry about traffic or crowds.

The Coffee House
A recent addition to the area’s collection of cafés, the Coffee House is a slightly upscale venue. Its stylish decoration and hip atmosphere attract many digital nomads and freelancers as well as locals who enjoy the Coffee House’s unique style.
Drinks here are a bit pricier than in many other cafés close by but the comfortable chairs, many power outlets, and the good internet make up for that. If you want to get really comfortable, get there early so you can secure a seat indoors. While the outdoor seating is nicely set up next to a little garden, it can get pretty loud and hot there.

The Loop
Close to some of D2’s main shops, The Loop welcomes guests with a friendly open space flooded with natural light. Open from early in the morning, they serve great coffee, smoothies, and fresh juices as well as a variety of breakfast options. If you come in the afternoon, try some of their homemade cakes or stay for dinner to enjoy their international menu.
The Loop is a great place to work since it’s generally rather quiet during the week and offers plenty of comfy places to sit and set up your office. Whether you need a big table to spread out your stuff or just want to lean back on a cozy couch, The Loop has a spot for you.

Shalom Just Coffee
Shalom Just Coffee is still kind of a secret tip, so head there before everyone else finds out about it. Tucked away in a small side street just at the entrance to Thao Dien Ward, this little place is perfect to focus on ticking off tasks from your to-do list. And their yummy coffee will give you the extra boost you might need early in the morning.
This café is bright and full of comfy chairs, benches, and sofas. There are plenty of plugs and the internet is very reliable and fast. But what’s best about this café, are the prices. Compared to other venues with a comparable level of service and quality, Shalom is very reasonably priced. Told you it was a little gem!

Highlands Coffee
Right when you enter Thao Dien Ward in D2, one of Vietnam’s most popular coffee chains welcomes you to the area: Highlands Coffee. Around the city, you will have already seen many of their shops, so it should come as no surprise that there’s one here too.
Known for their excellent Café Sua Da (iced Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk), Highlands is a great place to try local coffee. Alternatively, they have various types of milk tea and a selection of cakes and even banh mi (Vietnamese sandwich) to nibble on when you get hungry from all that work you’ve done.
Since the downstairs area can get pretty busy, try to grab a seat upstairs. From there you have a great view of the busy intersection below but you’re far enough away to not be bothered by the noise of traffic.

Ga Muoi Chin
A tiny hole in the wall, Ga Muoi Chin is a super cute place to hide for a day and do some work. Step inside and you’ll feel like stepping into the perfect blend of a coffee shop and a collector’s living room. Lining the walls, you’ll find shelves upon shelves of knick-knacks, ranging from old cameras and vintage phones to ceramic figures and wine bottles.
Find a spot at one of the tiny coffee tables and enjoy your drink while you marvel at your cool surroundings every time you take a quick break. Especially if you’re doing creative work, there is something inspiring about this café. Go try it out and let us know which cool ideas struck you while you were here!

Soma Café and Art Lounge
Tucked away in a little side street, Soma Café and Art Lounge is ideal if you’re in search of a trendy spot to enjoy a drink and write a few emails all while peeking into the local art scene.
Their coffee is delicious and so are their cocktails! You’re wondering why we’re mentioning cocktails? Because if you stick around on Friday night, you might just find yourself in the midst of a small but fun DJ party with a different theme (and signature cocktail) every time. If you want to reward yourself after a hard day’s work with a fun night out at Soma, ask your host when they’re having their next event.

Bliss Coffee
Along Thao Dien’s main road, Bliss Coffee welcomes guests who want a no-frills café where they can work without distractions. Order a freshly brewed coffee at the bar, grab a seat, and get cracking! The internet here is highly reliable and surprisingly fast, so if you do a lot of online work, this space is great for you.
Bliss Coffee also offers snacks, so you don’t need to move once you get hungry but can stay put and check a few more items off your list until the food comes. What’s more, the large terrace is great to take a quick breather and unwind for a few minutes before getting back to your tasks.

The Snap Café
Another great place to work in District 2 is the Snap Café. While all the seating is outdoors, you won’t get too hot because there are plenty of fans and it’s all in the shade. Choose between large tables and benches or comfortable sofas and cushioned loungers and get busy!
Since Snap offers many delicious foods and drinks, it’s a great place to spend the whole day if you really need to double down on work. While prices are a bit higher than in some of the other places suggested here, the atmosphere, service, quality of food, and the good internet make it worthwhile.
Whenever you’re in need of a break, walk around the café to explore the notice board where you can find information about cool activities, sales, pop-up markets, and many other things. Walk a few more steps back to Snap’s entrance area and explore the fun boutiques. From fairly priced clothing and other environmentally friendly goods to children’s’ toys, there’s a bit of everything to be found.

Haven Book Café
This small cozy place is wonderful if you’re looking for a relaxed space to work all while enjoying some yummy pastries and a good cup of coffee. While Haven is generally pretty quiet, the back room is even better if you really don’t want to be bothered. Try to grab the spot right by the window so you get more light and have a view of the little garden right outside. The internet is speedy here, so you can zoom through your list of tasks and take some time to browse all the books on the walls when you’re done. It’s not called a ‘book café’ for nothing.
