Sapa is not only famous for its unrivaled nature and mountains but also the culture and people of the mountainous ethnic minorities. And the tallest mountain of them all, Fansipan, also called the “Rooftop of Indochina”, is waiting for its portrait. This mountain covered with dense white clouds makes for an incredible photo which you can hardly catch in any other part of the world. Clouds are densest in the early morning or late afternoon, so choose wisely.
Next, explore remote villages in Sapa such as Lao Chai and Ta Van village to meet ethnic people in their colorful traditional clothes. Please keep in mind that you should ask these people first before you take a photo. I suggest simply pointing at your camera, and allowing them to shake their heads or nod. Then head over to Muong Hoa Valley which is covered with terraced fields that wear different colors depending on the season. Ham Rong Mountain, Sapa Stone Church, and Sapa Love Market are all downtown and suitable for a quick photo tour. You can try taking photos of some of the unique foods known to this area such as thang co, trau gac bep, and lon cap nach.
