What are the best months to swim at Doc Let Beach?
Doc Let is not too far from the center, so it still belongs to a tropical climate with seasonal winds in the small coastal plain region of Central Vietnam and is influenced by the sea breeze, making it mild all year round.
The average temperature throughout the year is 26.6 degrees Celsius. There are more sunny hours than rainy hours, about 2482 hours per year. The rainy season mainly falls in October and November. Therefore, the best time to travel to Doc Let is from January to September when there are many sunny days and it is also a peak tourist season in Nha Trang. Sometimes there may be an influence of southwest winds, making it cool, breezy, and dry.
In Nha Trang, the rain season starts in late September and ends in December. The best months to travel to Nha Trang and Doc Let Beach are between May and September when there is sunshine.
In the remaining months, the weather is not good for beach holiday ass the sky is often gray, the waves are sometimes strong and the water is cold.
From October to December is winter in Nha Trang accompanied by cold air from the northeast monsoon. If you travel during this period, you will mostly enjoy sightseeing. During this time, the sea water at Doc Let is quite cold so you cannot swim or dive or engage in any beach activities.
In April lunar calendar (around May on the Gregorian calendar), near Ninh Diem area there is a traditional festival called “Cung Dinh” with various customs and games taking place. You can visit during this time to combine tourism with participating in this interesting festival experience..

What to do at Doc Let’s beach?
You can swim there, of course, do some snorkeling or some water sports. These sports are more suitable for Vietnamese I think.
The sea here is so clear that you can see small fish and tiny grains of sand swirling at the bottom of the sea. Furthermore, this place is sheltered by rocky mountains, creating an extremely peaceful and calm Dốc Lết Hill. Most of the forests are still covered with lush vegetation, giving a sense of closeness to nature.
The beach stretches for 8km and unlike other beaches, the seabed of Dốc Lết gradually slopes away from the shore instead of steeply dropping like other beaches. Even at a distance of 100m from the shore, the water level is only about chest-deep, making it comfortable for children to play in the sea, build sandcastles, and very safe.
That’s why this place is called a dry beach, because the water level of Doc Let is very low. Even children, elderly people, women, and non-swimmers can swim without worrying about drowning. The sand is smooth and white, the waves gently lap against the shore, and the sea water is clear. However, you shouldn’t try the seawater here as it is quite salty. Behind the beach are vast green pine forests that form a cool natural green wall.
Swimming in the sea feels wonderful, walking on bare feet on the fine sand or stepping on dry leaves is also delightful. In front of Doc Let lies Van Phong Bay – one of the attractive tourist destinations planned for international tourism.
